Caring for Greenville Families Since 1983

Our story started in 1983 when Dr. “Happy” Holliday purchased a small neighborhood dental practice from a retiring dentist. At the time, the office had just three operatories and a small team, but it also had something really special: strong relationships with the people in the community.

Over the years, our practice has continued to grow alongside the families we serve. What started as a 1,300 square foot office has expanded into a larger, modern space with eight operatories and a growing team, but our focus has stayed the same. We still believe in taking the time to listen and treating people the way we would want to be treated ourselves.

One thing that has shaped our practice over the years is our commitment to prevention and long term care. Instead of simply fixing problems as they come up, we focus on helping patients build smiles that feel healthier and more stable over time. That philosophy has helped many of our patients experience fewer dental emergencies and more confidence in their oral health over time.

Today, we’re proud to continue caring for generations of families throughout Greenville. In fact, some of the patients who first visited our office in the 1980s now bring their children and grandchildren to see us. That sense of continuity continues within our practice itself, with Dr. J.L. Holliday joining his father, Dr. Happy Holliday, to help carry that tradition of care into the next generation.

Meet Dr. “Happy” Holliday

Since opening Holliday Dental in 1983, Dr. Happy has remained committed to creating a practice where patients feel truly cared for. He believes dentistry should be about more than treating teeth. It should be about building trust and helping people stay healthy for the long run.

Dr. Happy earned his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and continues to stay involved in advanced education and professional organizations focused on comprehensive dental care. He is also an Invisalign® preferred provider.

Outside the office, Dr. Happy enjoys gardening, traveling, working on hands-on projects, and spending time with his wife, Janice, their children, and grandchildren. He is also actively involved in community outreach, local volunteer work, and international mission trips.

Meet Dr. J.L. Holliday

Dr. J.L. joined Holliday Dental in 2020 after serving as a dentist in the United States Navy for six years. He brings a calm, thoughtful approach to patient care and enjoys helping people improve not only their smiles, but also their overall health and confidence.

After graduating from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2014, Dr. J.L. completed advanced training through a General Practice Residency at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in San Diego. During his time in the Navy, he cared for Sailors, Marines, and military families both aboard the USS Harpers Ferry and at Naval Health Clinic Hawaii in Pearl Harbor.

Today, Dr. J.L. continues to stay heavily involved in continuing education and advanced dentistry. He serves as a faculty member for Molis Coaching, where he helps train other providers in Invisalign® treatment and comprehensive orthodontic-restorative planning. He is also a speaker and educator for Align Technology, leading hands-on workshops that teach dentists digital smile design. Recently, he founded the Digital Restorative Academy, an online learning platform where practicing dentists can learn the digital design and fabrication techniques used at Holliday Dental.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. J.L. enjoys surfing, hiking, camping, reading, and spending time with his wife, Katie, and their children. Together, they are passionate about mission work and serving communities in need both locally and internationally.

Giving back has always been an important part of who we are. Our doctors stay actively involved in local outreach, volunteer dentistry, and international mission work because we believe caring for people extends beyond the walls of our office.

Dr. Happy volunteers at the Greenville Free Medical Clinic and participates in mission trips to places like Haiti and Ecuador, while Dr. J.L. has served on numerous dental mission trips supporting communities in Burundi and other underserved areas around the world.

Through these efforts, we’re grateful for the opportunity to use dentistry to serve others and make a positive impact both locally and internationally.
