Dr. John Lawrence “J.L.” Holliday, D.M.D.

About Dr. JL

Dr. J.L. joined his father, Dr. “Happy” Holliday, in practice in July 2020 after practicing dentistry in the U.S. Navy for six years. “The opportunity to enhance patients’ smiles, and to make a positive difference in their oral health and overall wellness – and consequently, their lives, is very rewarding to me.” said Dr. J.L.

Following his graduation from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2014, Dr. J.L. attended Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA for a General Practice Residency where he trained in hospital dentistry and oral surgery for one year.

Dr. J.L. served two years as the dental officer aboard a naval ship, the USS HARPERS FERRY, on which he deployed to the Persian Gulf for seven months. In that role, he was responsible for providing dental services to 800 Sailors and Marines. During his final assignment, Dr. J.L. served three years as a general dentist at Naval Health Clinic Hawaii in Pearl Harbor, HI.

Dr. J.L. and his wife, Katie, returned home to Greenville in 2020 and have since welcomed their two children, Jack and Harper, with a third on the way.

Dr. J.L. loves being active outdoors, whether it’s surfing, hiking, camping or running, and he also enjoys reading, traveling, and staying current on the latest developments in dentistry. Together, he and Katie share a passion for international missions, particularly for the African nation of Burundi, where there are only 10 dentists for roughly 11 million people. Dr. J.L. has attended 14 dental mission trips and hopes to remain actively involved in mission work throughout his life.

Dr. J.L. and Katie are active members of Grace Church and are both pursing a master’s degree in Cross Cultural Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Dr. JL is a Member of American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Periodontics of Greenville Study Club. Dr. J.L. also serves as a faculty member for Molis Coaching, a world-wide Invisalign educational platform, and works directly with Dr. Ryan Molis, the #1 solo Invisalign practitioner in the world. In his position, Dr. JL will help fellow providers achieve predictable results with the Invisalign system, answer clinical questions and lead local study clubs.

About Dr. Holliday

Since opening Holliday Dental in 1983, Dr. “Happy” Holliday has remained committed to providing advanced and comprehensive dental care while maintaining focus on long-term patient and family relationships. As Dr. Happy explains, “Today, and for the last four decades, it’s been my pleasure and honor to provide a ‘dental home’ to greater Greenville – a place where patients’ can achieve proper oral health through appropriate and routine preventative care.”

He received his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Happy is an Invisalign® preferred provider and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, the Greenville County Dental Association, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the Greenville Implant Study Club.

Outside of the office, Dr. Happy is an active member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, where he has served in various positions. He volunteers at the Greenville Free Medical Clinic and participates in medical mission trips to Haiti and Ecuador.

Dr. Happy enjoys walking, gardening, traveling, tinkering with various hands-on projects, and spending quality time with family and friends. He loves living in the Hollingsworth neighborhood, where his office is located, and participating in community events and activities. He has been married to his wife, Janice for 38 years. They have three children and four grandchildren, all who happily reside in Greenville.
